› Pre-2022 Etchells Class Rules › D.6.2(c) Construction (floorboard attachments to hull)
From the OD Rules:
D.6.2 CONSTRUCTION
…
(c) At each fastening point the hull may be reinforced for an area 75mm x 75mm using materials as in D.3.2 (a).
Paragraph D.3.2 (a) does not list materials. Is the reference better made to paragraph D.3.1?
This whole floorboard section is confusing. My boat has removable aluminum floors (transverse beams) that slip into saddles glassed to the hull. The floorboards are screwed into the aluminum floors, not into the hull. A couple floors are screwed into the center console, and there is a tie-down linkage bar between the keelson and the center of the forward floor to keep the floorboards from coming adrift or sliding around. This seems like a reasonable approach. Fastening to the hull as implied by rules D.6.2 (b) and D.6.2 (c) seems bizarre, but I suppose this covers the case where there is no console (per section D.1.2 the console is optional).
