        F.2.3 CERTIFICATION

        (a) The official measurer shall certify spars and shall sign and date the certification mark and complete a Spar Measurement Form.

        What certification mark? What Spar Measurement Form? Do these items exist? I am told they have not been in use for at least 20 years.

        (c) The mast and boom shall be legibly marked with the ISAF authorised serial numbers at the following locations:

        Mast: within 150mm of heel.

        Boom: within 150mm of outboard end.

        One spar maker said he has never put an ISAF (World Sailing) authorized serial number on the boom. “It has never been a problem.” Another spar maker said they make up a number and put it on each boom.

        What purpose does the serial number serve? It is not recorded anywhere anymore.
