Article V – (Membership) Meetings

Regarding specifying the months for the meetings, maybe it would be best to leave that language as is so as to encourage the Fleet to maintain its business rhythm by holding meetings as planned, but add a provision to the Bylaws that a majority vote of the Exec. Board can change the date for any single meeting to whatever date best serves the membership at that time. Since the Exec. Board does not have the power to change a bylaw, something like this suggested provision would give the Exec. Board power to make the date change, but hopefully not let the association drift without holding regular business meetings.

Here is a proposed revision to Bylaws Article V – Meetings. Any and all comments welcome…

This proposed revision gives the Exec Board some flexibility in determining the schedules for the 2 regular meetings. In addition, it makes the awards at the post-season meeting (a.k.a fall meeting) optional, so a separate awards meeting would be permitted under this change (as was done this year). This past year, the “winter” schedule for the fall meeting technically was “out of order,” but what that actually means is unknown to me. I suppose a member could have objected to anything that was decided during the meeting. An interesting parliamentary question for any lawyers in the membership.
