Cold temperatures, rain, and blustery winds are forecast for the opening day of Etchells Fleet 27’s 2019 racing season.

Hello all,

The rain will end this evening and we have a beautiful day in store for Saturday.  Launching begins at 8:00 and will end by noon, don’t be late.  Once you arrive,

• make sure you have bow and stern lines rigged,
• possibly a tow line,
• have your mast tied down so you can still steer, and
• your keel plugs are in.

Attached is the Etchells Fleet 27 and Class registration form for 2019. Follow the instructions on the form and send to the Fleet 27 Treasurer.

Etchells Fleet 27, partnering with J-24 Fleet 43 and Portland Yacht Club, will host a 3-day racing clinic from July 29 through July 31 featuring renowned match racing sailor, coach and sailing rules/tactics guru Dave Perry. Dave will spend time coaching senior and junior racing sailors, and lead one of his well-known rules/tactics seminars.

Tickets for these events will go on sale at a date and place to be announced. Financial sponsors for this clinic are encouraged. Contact Matt Blake (Etchells) or Erica Beck Spencer (J-24) for more information.

Welcome to spring,
The snow is melting here, we have mud and the ability to get into our boats, we have new boats coming to the fleet, the skiers are still happy….life is good!

Dave Perry writes the definitive books on the racing rules of sailing and he provides enjoyable and informative clinics to help folks improve on the race course. Fleet 27 is trying provide Casco Bay sailors with the opportunity to see Dave in person this July at a clinic held at PYC and on the waters of Casco Bay.
