Early Comms Requested From R/C

As someone not based out of PYC and as someone who likes to get rigged and out sailing by 5:00 on Tuesdays, I would like to see more communications from the race committee during the period before the R/C leaves the dock. Some items that should be communicated:

• • If the R/C can and has made the determination of where the racing area will be prior to 5:00, then broadcasting that decision on VHF72 at 5:00 would be a help
  • If the R/C boat leaves by 5:15, the sound signal and announcement on VHF72 are sufficient; include the planned race area in the broadcast
  • If the R/C is not leaving the dock by 5:15, then some form of communication of the R/C’s plan should be signaled or broadcast on VHF72 at 5:15
  • The R/C should rebroadcast on VHF72 the key elements of its plan every 10 or 15 minutes, until:
  1. The R/C leaves the dock,
  2. A dock postponement is signaled, or
  3. The races are cancelled for the evening.
