Hi All-

I am sending out Social Director Jeff LePage’s thoughts on a social meeting.  I will set up a Zoom meeting for 18:00 hours on 2/9.  Hope to see you then.  Please feel free to invite your crews and other interested parties.  Hope all are healthy and safe.

Subject: Etchells Social Zoom meeting 

I’ve got a few ideas for our first social meeting.  I’ll be away on Tuesday 2/2, so Tuesday 2/9 would work for me.

1.    Participants could wear a name tag with their name and the boat they race on

2.    Skippers of each boat could introduce their crew if they are on the call

3.    New skippers and boats could introduce themselves

4.    We could ask in advance if some would like to talk about what they are doing to their boats in the off season.

5.    We could ask some that are racing with other fleets to speak about racing away.

a.   Logistics

b.   Traveling 

c.    Boat preparations for traveling long distances

d.   How much time is allowed to set up and tune boats at other yacht clubs

e.    Getting others interested in traveling to different clubs will require making it sound interesting and attractive.  Talking about the preparation will take some of the sting and anxiety out of the process.

6.    Owners who are working on special projects could detail parts, tools, techniques that they use or want.

7.    Tim could give a brief presentation of the spare parts that the club has for sale.

8.    We could discuss food choices for proper COVID-19 social gathering.  

a.   Individually wrapped food

b.   Cans and bottled drinks only?

c.    Outdoor wash station at PYC

9.    Who is planning to race the 2021 season?
