Races 15 and 16 of the 2018 season were held in a moderate 10-12 knot SW wind. Fourteen boats competed, first on a W1 course, followed by a W2 with shortened 2nd lap.
Code flag I was flown for the start, but that did not deter the aggressive Fleet 27, resulting in a general recall. In the 1st race, Schadenfreude and Vixen battled for 1st place by favoring the right side of the course, with Schadenfreude rounding the weather mark 1st. Vixen managed to just nose ahead half way down the run, but Schadenfreude controlled the final approach to take the victory. In the 2nd race, Vixen led wire-to-wire by playing shifts and pressure in the middle of the course. White Hawk favored the left side of the beat to round second, and held that position to the finish. Vixen won the evening overall, followed by Schadenfreude, then White Hawk.
Fortitude with the help of Girl Talk, provided the Race Committee for the evening.
With tonight’s pair of races, the third discard comes into play for the season scoring and the overall season results have tightened up. Schadenfreude takes over the top spot, but a number of boats are close behind her. A summary of the season results is found here. Website members may view more results on the race results page.
Scoring notes: #310 protested #185 in race 1; #185 retired from the race. #315 was rescored as #75 for both races.
