Race Results for August 7

Race 12 of the 2018 season, which kicked-off Fleet 27’s Fall series, was held under the threat of thunder storms, with flashes of lightning off in the far distance to the northwest.  Fifteen boats completed a W1 course in a light wind that eventually settled in out of the east at 3-5 kts. Code flag I was flown for the start, but the line was crowded on the right side and several boats were called over.  After a poor start at the committee boat, White Hawk capitalized by being first to take the right side, which, with an intermittently, but progressively, veering wind, paid off handsomely with a first place.  Butter and Fuzzy Logic also took the right side early to finish 2nd and 3rd.  Greyhound led the boats that favored the left side on the beat. White Hawk is the first boat to chalk up 2 daily wins this season, which is a sign of the few number of races we have been able to run, as well as the competitiveness of the fleet. PRO Jimi and Monica were back commanding Lindsay Lord, and Red Stripe provided the well exercised Race Committee for the evening.
