Race 17 started in nearly drifting conditions, but was quickly abandoned when the wind died off completely. A few minutes later, the R/C reset the line for a W1 course as a new breeze filled in on the right side of the course at ~8 kts from the SSE. Fifteen boats started the race, but Vixen and Tuesday’s Witch were both over early at the start. The majority of the fleet tacked to port and headed off to the right side where the breeze had filled in first. After restarting, Vixen sailed to the left side into slightly stronger wind and a small left shift. Vixen rounded first by several lengths, once again showing that while the start is important, good luck is even more so. D Sports and Greyhound finished 2nd and 3rd.
