The 2019 Etchells Fleet 27 Summer Series concluded with last night’s racing, which was augmented by on-the-water coaching from Dave Perry. Seventeen boats raced 2 races over the WM1 course in 8 to 12 knots of wind from the south, but with lots of flood tide. Andrew’s Schadenfreude won the evening with 2-1 finishes. After the races, Dave Perry reviewed and critiqued the good, the bad, and the ugly observed during the evening’s racing.
In the Summer Series, WhiteHawk dominated the 9-race, 1-discard series, with Schadenfreude finishing 2nd and Hustler in 3rd. Nineteen boats competed in the Summer Series.
For the season, WhiteHawk continues to lead the overall season standings with Schadenfreude and Greyhound following within striking distance.
DAVE PERRY!!
Dave Perry was here this week:
- Presenting his entertaining and informative rules/tactics talk to 91 enthusiastic sailors in a packed, warm, PYC clubhouse on Monday
- Leading a roundtable on running and judging races
- Coaching the local junior sailors at PYC and SailMaine
- Coaching the Etchells (and J/24’s) during the weeknight racing.
Dave provided everyone who participated in the clinic with many areas they can work on to improve their boat’s finishes – from boat handling, to boat speed to tactics and strategy. A link to his video commentary will be posted on the website soon.
