July Weekend Regatta
Date: Sunday, July 18, 2021
Rules: 2021-2024 Racing Rules of Sailing plus Etchells Class Rules are in effect.
Penalties: US Sailing Prescriptions Appendix V – US Alternative Penalties shall apply (1 or 2 penalty circles); no protests will be heard; however, lively discussion after racing.
Minimum Number of Entries: The racing will be held only if at least 5 boats sign up to race and start.
Eligibility: Any and all Etchells Fleet 27 boats, owners, and crews.
Entry Fee: $10.00 per boat
Race area: Casco Bay; the R/C will communicate over VHF where the stating area will be located.
Start time: 1:00PM first warning signal
Courses: W-L courses designated on course board on committee boat. Course designations as defined in section 9 of the 2021 Tuesday Evening Series SI’s will be used.
Number of Races: Try for 4 races; more if time permits
Scoring: Scoring per RRS Appendix A (low point). If 5 or more races are completed, each competitor’s worst score will be discarded. Daily overall rankings will be included in the 2021 Summer Weekend Series.
Radio Comms: The race committee will communicate on VHF channel Ch 72.
Disclaimer Of Liability: Competitors’ attention is drawn to RRS Fundamental Rule 3 which states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.” By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia, or other causes. The Organizing Authority is not responsible for the seaworthiness of a yacht whose entry is accepted or the sufficiency or adequacy of its equipment. The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during or after the regatta.
Insurance: Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $300,000 per incident or equivalent and a copy of this insurance policy must be on file with the Etchells Fleet 27 Treasurer prior to the boat engaging in any racing activity.
The July 18 event has been cancelled due to lack of interest.
