This is NOAA’s wind speed forecast for Saturday (forecast at 1930 on Tuesday, Sep 12). The forecast has the storm motion slowing down and the wind field growing to bring more wind to Portland compared to earlier forecasts, as can be seen by reviewing the plots here and noting the expected track has moved a little east.

I’ve been monitoring news and projections about the storm (Hurricane Lee). I have been in contact with Amanda Clark our PRO and a number of folks from the fleet.
Regardless of Hurricane Lee’s exact track, it looks like it will have some significant impact to our sailing area, will overcomplicate launch/haul processes, raise risk of boat damage, put unneeded strain on PYC waterfront staff and volunteers.
At this point it makes sense to cancel the race event. Strong showing of away boats that need a heads up.
